Cellar Guide Find a restaurant

Restaurant Directory

This directory pulls together the restaurants we have reviewed and recommended, organized to help you find what you are looking for without wasting time. Browse by neighborhood, cuisine type, or dining occasion. Every place listed here has been visited and evaluated against the standards we lay out in the shortlist—which is to say, we care about the details.

The Shape of the Collection

By Neighborhood

Find restaurants organized by where they sit in the city. Each neighborhood has its own character and food culture. Start here if you know what part of town you want to visit.

By Cuisine

Organized by the food tradition or cooking style. Whether you are seeking Brazilian, Mediterranean, vegetarian, or something seasonal, this path gets you there. The best restaurants often blend traditions, so do not assume a single label tells the whole story.

By Occasion

Some places excel at quick service, others at lingering over a meal with friends. Some are built for families with young children, others for a quiet date night. Choose the category that matches your plan.

Where to Start

I know what neighborhood I want, but not which restaurant

Go to the neighborhoods page. It lays out each district with its food landmarks and recommendations. That page also has the information you need to get around and to understand what makes each area distinct.

I want a quick lunch but do not know where to go

Look through the directory entries sorted by dining occasion. Quick-service restaurants are listed with their actual speed and the quality they hold at that pace. Read the featured restaurants page to see a few standout examples of places that do speed without cutting corners.

I want to eat with family and I have a child with allergies

The family-friendly page is built for exactly this situation. It explains how to communicate across a restaurant's kitchen, what questions to ask, and which kinds of settings give a restaurant the focus it needs to handle allergies properly.

I found a restaurant online, but I want to know if it is worth visiting

Search the directory for the restaurant's name. If it is listed, you will find our evaluation and the context in which it does well. If it is not listed, check the featured restaurants and the eating local page. If you cannot find it there either, it means we have not yet visited or formally evaluated that place.

How It Is Ordered

Every entry in this directory carries the same core information: the restaurant's name, location, neighborhood, cuisine type, a sense of the pace and atmosphere, and notes on what the kitchen does best. We focus on practical details that tell you something true. Hours are listed as operating times, not promotional language. Pricing is honest about what you will spend. And our notes describe what we actually found—not what we hope will happen on your visit, but what it looked like when we were there, what the consistency was like across several visits, and what specific details earned a recommendation.

Traditional regional specialties show what a restaurant has committed to learning and executing well. This matters more than a long menu.
